Blog 3_week 3:

We normally draw up our wireframes in Balsamiq, but since my internet has not been working well, I decided to draw up the wireframes in Adobe Illustrator and later draw these up in Balsamiq. While I was working on this I developed the designs to the step between wireframe and designed prototype. Now I have set out the layout and colour scheme.

My selection of the layout was based on research on news and other websites as well as newspapers. In keeping with this I set the layout to geometric and columnar. For the colour scheme I selected the opposite colors that are usually found in Lotto photographs. The thinking behind this was that the Lotto images tend to have loud, strong and vibrant colors. I selected cool colors of black, purple, grey and white to form a visual framework to contain these images on the webpages and to achieve a balance between bright and cool colors.

To achieve this technically, I put a Lotto logo which is widely used but unusual as it has cool blue, grays and whites which is in keeping with the colour scheme I have in mind. Therefore, I put it into the colour palette generator and pictaculous to generate colour swatches.

I then, wrote up four out of the five of the required articles. These I researched and wrote +up myself for the news website. These are entitled:
-€88.5 EuroMillions Win
-What are the recent 2016-2017 popular stories about Lotto winners?
-Lottery’s interesting Q & A
-Lottery History

I selected the images to use in the website including for the mood-boards.
I drew up the navigation map which shows the connections between different parts of the news website as specified in the brief.
I drew up a moodboard of layout types of screens viewed in: mobile, tablet and desktop for to further the concept development. I started thinking about what to include in the Xtensio profiles.

I started the fifth article for the website. This is called ‘How to play the Lotto,’ the information of which I obtained from the National Lottery website. I developed my mood-boards further.

I did some html work on the landing page for which I will have a separate external css file.

At this point, I have completed chapters 1 to 6 in the Lynda.com ‘Responsive Web Design,’ tutorials which is 84% of the course. There is one chapter remaining on adjusting website for printing.
