Important points in articles about SEO: What is SEO?

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the umbrella term for all the methods you can use to ensure the visibility of your website and its content on search engine results pages (SERPs).
The methods vary from technical practices you can achieve behind the scenes on your website (we tend to refer to this as ‘on-page SEO’) to all the promotional ’off-page’ approaches you can use to raise your site’s visibility (link-building, social media marketing).
When we talk about visibility, we mean how high up the SERP your website appears for certain search terms in the ‘organic’ results. Organic results refer to those that appear naturally on the page, rather than in the paid-for sections.
Building a strong site architecture and providing clear navigation will help search engines index your site quickly and easily. This will also, more importantly, provide visitors with a good experience of using your site and encourage repeat visits. It’s worth considering that Google is also increasingly paying attention to user experience, including mobile optimization and site speed.
The landscape of SEO changes fast, therefore Search Engine Watch is here to help navigate the unpredictable terrain. Whether it’s a new change in Google’s algorithm, or dealing with semantic natural language search, or implementing the latest accelerated mobile page technology, Search Engine Watch has you covered.

Discussion on adding links and images, website definition and audience considerations for this SEO Website:

Adding Internal links->in the website there are navigation links and I'm working on a site-map for this. This is to create a logical sequence from one section to the next in the document.
Adding external links->I have links on each of the text areas that link to more information on Creative Multimedia Programming and Limerick Institute of Technology. These are sources to support my content and are from a reputable source of LIT.
There is not excessive linking in the website and every link has a purpose here.
Adding images->quality images and file sizes are to be considered and to include the 'alt' text. Here, I have included my logo in the top left of screen. This is clear to see and carries forward to all the page parts in this scrolling page. It is important to optimize images to attain new opportunities for my search ranking.

Website Definition->It also was a factor here that while this project is about SEO of a Creative Multimedia Website, that it would not be seen as the 'Official Website.' Therefore, I included my logo as I said above and also a line in the head title of: 'Project Website Design for Course in Creative Multimedia Programming.'

User Considerations->In the design it is recommended to 'focus on the user.' To decipher what my audience is, what they expect from the website and how with this information that I can enhance the 'user experience.'
The user here would be interested parties seeking information on 'Creative Multimedia Programming' at LIT and users that would be general browsers without any particular intention. While the former is significant, it is notable that the later may be considered also not only in word of mouth marketing terms, but also as future potential students or other such customers.

Article: SEO & UX: So Happy Together

This consists of a presentation of 69 slides. There is an option to create clips as the user goes through the slides. For this I was able to create a clip-board which I named 'Sinead' with a description of 'SEO.'

Once SEO and UX were separated, but as search engines evolved UX and SEO have converged.
Modern SEO is good for:

  • helping to understand what searchers area seeking.
  • drive high-quality traffic from search engines.

Modern UX is good for: general positive user experience and to uncover potential needs and fulfill them.

Key factors for SEO are:
Accessibility:
Content relevance:
Search Query Keyword use:

External Links: 'outlinks'  not only help users but, are correlated with more 'inlinks' and 'higher rankings.'
Visual Engagement:
Site & URL structure:
Brand Mentions & Citations: the brands most talked about on the web rank the highest.
CTR-and-Pogo sticking:

Content relevance: phrases like 'differences between.'
Visitor engagement (stats):

Mobile Friendliness of website: my web site is responsive and is effective on mobile view.

Page Load Speed: fast (exact speed is ***)

HTTPS: Googles algorithm still looks at the url to give ranking boost.

QDF (Query Deserves Freshness): biases Google to rank recent content higher.

Google filters, duplicates, and may depress rankings of sites with lots of thin or useless content.

How as a website UX designer to get more value from SEO?
Google is often the first point of navigation to my site.
The brand experience can be controlled with Google.
keyword research tells us what people are actually seeking and how they are doing so.
Volume and phrasing is important here.
