Project SEO

SEO Website Project url: https://k00121609.github.io//SEOEWT.

Git-hub repository: SEOProject.

The following is the 'Settings Page':

Changes to the Website:
I changed the title from 'Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT)' to 'Creative Multimedia Programming.'

I renamed the file to 'index.html.' This was something new I have learned as previously I thought the index e.g index4.html could be a home page. However, it is the case that the browser searches for index.html as the first page.

I added rich key words to the head of the website: courses, jobs, creative, multimedia, programming, science, art careers, qualifications, skills, training, web, technology, LIT.

I created a 'READ.md' file on git-hub as follows:

SEO Project
This is a Search Engine Optimization Project.
Title is 'Creative Multimedia Programming.'
This is a Postgraduate Level 8 course run at Limerick Institute of Technology (LIT) which can be accessed through Springboard.
This website consists of a long scrolling page with a docked navigation so that as you scroll through the website your navigation
options are there.
Each section of the scrolling page has tab in the top navigation menu.

The sections/topics of this website in the navigation are: About, Modules, LIT News, Campus Life, Contact.

The 'About' section is an introduction to the course. For further information, there is a link 'Read More...' here, which takes you
to the Flexible Learning Page of LIT where there is more information about this course.
Next in the about section is the 'President's Welcome' and 'LIT Educational Philosophy.' Both these have read further links 'Read More...'
where you can access further information on these sections.

The 'Modules' section displays details about this course, the H.Dip iin Computing in Creative Multimedia Programming. It lists information
on Dates, Times, Entry Requirements, Content, Qualifications, Modules, Assessment/Examinations, Springboard Applicants.
Each of these sections has a read further information 'Read More...' option.

The next section of the document and on the navigation bar is 'LIT News.' This has the latest news happening here at LIT College. This
gives an insight into the culture and happenings at LIT. The three topics here are in images and text format: LIT Scholarships, LIT
Campus Expansion, Limerick Charities benefit from Limerick's Marketlink with 'Read More...' links.
In this section there is a slide of text of testimonials about what LIT Students say of the college. All are positive.
This overall section is updated regularly.

There is the next section called 'Campus Life.' This gives information on: Campus Life, Sports Clubs and Societies, and LIT Locations.
As you can see here is the LIT Logo.

Then there is the 'Contact' section where both LIT phone and email details are provided. In addition, there is direct phone and email
contact details given for the Creative Multimedia Course at the LIT Flexible Learning Office.

There is a Google Map locator for LIT next. Here using the 'yellow person icon' at base left of screen, you can click on this an carry
it to any part of the screen. For instance, the LIT location (identified here with the red symbol). When you drop the person icon, the
screen changes and displays a picture view of the location. Depending on which direction you position the 'person symbol' you can obtain

different views of your selected location.

I then selected the 'Preview' option and it looks good.
There are options of:

  1. Commit directly to the gh-pages branch.
  2. Create a new-branch and start a pull-request.

I selected the first one and clicked the commit button which then display the file as uploaded. Then I edited it further and did a commit again to the gh-pages branch.

Forking of websites using GitHub:
I browsed through the options on GitHub and read about 'forking' of websites. This is a good idea if there are a number of people working on a website. It allows the user to experiment with changes without actually changing the original website itself and then create a 'pull request' to the project owner.

This is the Project listings and details from today:
